Imagine discovering that your children had secret contacts and secret conversations in which they and their friends freely indulged in blasphemy, cursing and obscenities. Imagine discovering they were regularly receiving reports from friends (or friends of friends) about their drinking bouts and sometimes sordid romantic dramas and their anger and hateful grudges. Imagine that your children were the ones venting to others about their own grudges and romantic problems and drinking experiences – so that it seemed that everyone (except you, that is) knew what they were doing or thinking of doing. If you would be shocked to discover these “secret lives” of your children, you should not be. If you parents allow them free access to the social media, chat rooms, texting, Snapchat, etc., etc., etc. through such devices as an iPod Touch (a very popular item with the kids), if you do not have the passwords giving you access to their online activities, or simply don’t bother checking them, then you yourselves are setting them up with such a secret life. Heaven help the parents who naively send their children as orphans into the digital world of cyber space! And God help the children who are abandoned there!
