Reliable medical reports tell us that the coronavirus is a highly contagious and, for some, potentially lethal pathogen. Many of those who already carry the virus suffer no symptoms or only very mild symptoms, and the large majority of those who have tested positive for the virus and exhibit more serious symptoms quickly and fully recover their health. But for some who are particularly susceptible to infection, the pathogen requires prudent precautions. It is especially dangerous for the elderly and those with weakened immune systems and those who are already suffering from other medical conditions. The President has declared a national emergency and the Governor of Ohio, has—through the Ohio State Health Department—ordered the closing of all schools throughout the State for three weeks beginning this past Tuesday. Immaculate Conception Academy will, thus, suspend in-school classes during this time and will continue instruction online or by other lines of communication. Church members over 65 years of age and those whose immune systems are already compromised are also cautioned that they are most susceptible to catching the virus and would be much more difficult to treat once they fell ill. Please be advised that those who are reasonably concerned about failing ill are not obliged to attend Mass on Sunday and might even be obligated to stay home for the time being. The 8:45 AM Sunday Mass is now broadcast by livestream at www.wcbohio.com/livestream. Call the church or school office for more information.
